On the Job Training

Working with missionaries is one of the coolest jobs on the planet!

At One Village Group, this is our daily reality. It's inspiring and often humbling to speak with these individuals who have given up everything and "gone" to share the good news of Jesus with those who do not know Him.

Everyday we are learning more and growing closer to Christ through our conversations and interactions with them.

It's a special kind of "on the job training"😊

Following are a few glimpses into our everyday experiences and the people we work with.

Jesus is Enough...

Lydia Gard, a single, twenty-something young lady, is completing her language training in Mexico. While she has several years of mission's experience already, this is her first overseas posting.

We connected with Lydia through One Village Group in early 2025. We helped her create her blog to stay in touch with her supporters and provided communications training.

During a recent "catch-up" call a few days ago, I asked how she was doing. She shared, "It's going well, but I am feeling a little isolated and alone..."

Then, she said something truly inspiring: "But I know Jesus is enough, and I'm working on that..."

Wow - no whining, no complaining, just looking at how she can grow closer to Christ in any situation.

Looking For God Everywhere

The Eliciers are an AMAZING couple working in the Dominican Republic. Getting their posts is always encouraging and challenging.

In a recent post, Morgan tells the story of walking down the road one day and looking up to see where an old piece of metal had rusted out and left the impression of a cross behind.

Her take-away:

"These moments with Him are so special to me. To me, it was Him saying “I’m here. I’m with you. I’m walking next to you at all times.”

Great reminder that God never leaves or forsakes us. We just need to look for Him and He will show Himself to us - even in the simplest ways.

The Jesus Tribe

Abraham Deng (Right) With a Hope Encounter Evangelist, South Sudan

Abraham Deng is a practical man - he has to be. He has been working at helping the poorest of the poor in South Sudan for many years, even though this means he will have to struggle to support his own family sometimes.

His passion is bringing those living on the margins to Jesus.

The other day as we talked about his latest blog post (compliments of One Village Group) he explained to me in the simplest of terms what they are trying to accomplish in the South Sudan.

In Africa, your tribe is everything. They are your identity, your safety... your only true family. What we are doing through The Hope Encounter in South Sudan, is showing people a tribe that is far superior their worldly tribe. It is called the Jesus Tribe...

This really got me thinking. Everyone around the world actually belongs to a "tribe" of one sort or other.

What tribe do I belong to? Where do I turn to for my identify, my safety, my "family"?

Am I really putting all my hope and identify into being a member of the "Jesus Tribe"?

Learning, Learning, Learning...

What a great job I have! And, as always, I want to thank you for your prayers and financial support that make it possible for me to keep doing my job.

Please remember, when you support One Village Group, you truly are supporting multiple people like Lydia Gard, Morgan and Jonathan t, and Abraham Deng.

Through One Village Group, we are multiplying your giving around the globe, encouraging faithful members of your Tribe - the Jesus Tribe.
